THOT: Which artists have influenced you throughout your career?

JC: Agnes Cecile has been a profound influence throughout my artistic career. Her ability to capture raw emotions and express them through the fluidity of water colours  has deeply resonated with me. Her work has inspired me to explore the depths of human feelings and translate them onto canvas. The way she seamlessly combines realism with abstraction has encouraged me to experiment with various techniques and styles in my own art. Agnes Cecile's artistry has been a guiding light in my creative journey, inspiring me to push the boundaries of self-expression and emotional storytelling through my work.

THOT: How important is memory in your work?

JC: Memory is of paramount importance in my work. It serves as a wellspring of inspiration, enriching the creative process. By tapping into memories and emotions, I can infuse my art with a genuine and profound depth. Memories provide a powerful source of authenticity and meaning, allowing me to convey a narrative that resonates with both me and the audience. They serve as a catalyst for creativity, enhancing the overall artistic experience and enabling me to craft pieces that are not only visually compelling but emotionally evocative.

THOT: What is your most favourite piece from your collections?

JC: My favourite piece from my collections is "Wallflower." This artwork is deeply meaningful to me because it symbolizes the journey of a shy and unnoticed person, like a wallflower, finding their voice and creative expression. As someone who was once shy and overlooked, this piece represents my personal growth and resilience. It's a reminder of the beauty in the quiet corners of life and celebrates the strength hidden behind a reserved exterior. "Wallflower" is not just art; it's a piece of my own story, reflecting the power of self-discovery and the beauty in the unassuming aspects of life.

THOT: How do you start your day? Do you have a creative ritual?

JC: I like to kickstart my day with a mindful routine. My morning ritual typically involves yoga and meditation, which helps me find inner balance and clarity. Following this, I engage in journaling, allowing me to capture my thoughts, dreams, and creative ideas. This practice serves as a wellspring of inspiration for my artistic endeavours throughout the day. Once I've nurtured my mind and body, I am fully energized and ready to immerse myself in my creative work.

THOT: What was your inspiration behind this collaborative piece with The House Of Things?

JC: Our collaboration with The House Of Things on "Garden Scribble" was inspired by a deep connection to nature and the language of flowers. This sofa is a meticulous love letter to nature, capturing flourishing gardens and the art of journaling. The title, "Garden Scribble," hints at the underlying theme. THOT:  Do colours come first, or does the pattern?

JC: For me, it's always the colour that comes first in my creative process. Colours have the incredible power to evoke emotions and set the tone for a piece. They serve as the initial inspiration, guiding the mood and atmosphere of the artwork. Once I've chosen the colors that resonate with the emotions I want to convey, the patterns and forms naturally flow from there. Color is like the language of my emotions, and it's the starting point that fuels my entire creative journey.

THOT: How would you say digital art has impacted the art world?

JC: Digital art has significantly impacted the art world by democratizing access, expanding creative possibilities, and redefining ownership through technology like block chain. It has fostered a global community, encouraged innovation, and adapted art to the digital age.
